Last weekend I was invited by Sofitel Abudhabi to experience Sofitel’s SoFit concept which is luxury seeking and active traveler’s delight as it not only make you stick to your fitness routine while travelling but also give you peace of mind. In this article I have covered all the tips and tricks for you to follow in order to stay fit and fabulous during your travel. Read on to know more;
Choose the right place to stay
The most important thing in staying fit while travelling is choosing the right place to stay. Before booking any hotel, make sure you check the hotel’s website for their health and wellness facilities, and if you are someone who loves an active lifestyle and want to stay fit, I highly recommend you to do some Internet recon while booking your hotels. Sofitel hotels around the world offer a great concept of health and wellness called So/Fit. Sofitel Abudhabi has an amazing health and wellness facilities including well equipped gym, swimming pool, sauna, Jacuzzi, hammam’s and wellness spa. This hotel brings a touch of French elegance to the cultural capital of the United Arab Emirates, offering a sweeping view of the Arabian gulf and the Emirates’ skyline. The hotel’s French roots can be seen on the entire property with an obvious French elegance from the moment you enter the grand lobby to each individual rooms and even into the spa and the suites.
Stay active while travelling
Make exercise part of your lifestyle and make sure you don’t skip your fitness routine while travelling, as consistency is key. Don’t forget to make good use of your hotel’s gym even if it means working out for a quick 15 minutes.
SoFit is Sofitel’s fitness concept that offers an innovative health and wellness program. So/fit is more than the traditional fitness as it offers efficient and holistic experiences which combines a state of art gym with signature exercise programmes. In Sofitel Abudhabi they have 2 gyms, one for ladies and one for gentlemen. Both gyms are equipped with Technogym treadmills, cycles, and cross-trainers, and a large collection of free weights that would please most gym aficionados travellers.
Swimming is one of my favourite exercices. No matter where you are travelling, be it your hotel’s swimming pool, the open ocean or lake, you can swim absolutely anywhere. The pool at Sofitel Abudhabi is beautiful and surrounded by Abudhabi’s highest skyline giving it a futuristic look, a perfect place to start the day or chill in to unwind following a busy day.
watch what you eat and eat well
The most important part of staying fit while travelling is food. While travelling, I love exploring the local cuisine and I know the fact that sometimes it gets really difficult to avoid delicious food and indulgences but the key to stay healthy while travelling is balance and control.Sofitel hotels around the world offer a series of low-calorie meals to help guests meet their lifestyle goals in flavourful bites. In Abudhabi they have amazing healthy dining options and one signature restaurant I visited while there was their Parmigiana restaurant for dinner – a restaurant offering contemporary take on classic Italian recipes. The restaurant offers a wide array of menu favourites such as bruschetta, carpaccio and of course healthy parmigiana dishes, served with an amazing view of the Arabian gulf. The hotel has many restaurants offering from international buffet to succulent grills and local flavors, but for breakfast I decided to indulge in their magnifique breakfast in bed.
I highly recommend to Dine with stars at Sofitel’s casual Italian dining Restaurant ” Parmigiana” which is based on Hollywood theme wall of fame .
Pamper yourself
Stresses in your daily life build up over time, especially when you are on road. To maintain a healthy mind, I, and certainly everybody, could use a little pampering from time to time. Personally, I find that a spa treatment can do wonders for both my body and mind with its soothing massages and relaxing baths, after which I feel refreshed and ready to take on the world.At Sofitel’s SoSpa, I had an ultimate experience which offers a classic and healthy French spa experience blended with Arabian traditions. So Spa works with some of most prestigious French brands such as Cinq Mondes and Carita. The Spa offers a range of body and skin treatments from around the world with the latest in French cosmetology. So Spa has four single treatment rooms and one double private spa suite. Each male and female area features its own separate hammams, scrub room and jacuzzi.Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche was the first property within the GCC region to host Sofitel’s signature So Spa.
Explore the area by walking, biking or Jogging
There is no better way to explore a city than on foot, right ? The best part of staying in Sofitel Abudhabi is its amazing location. The hotel is located in the prime location of downtown Abudhabi offering a short 5 minutes walk distance from the famous pristine Corniche beachfront, which spreads across eight kilometers of manicured waterfront that includes running and jogging tracks, separate cycle and pedestrian pathways and the public beach. The Corniche is a perfect place for outdoor activities and staying fit and it is also of one of the best touristic place in Abudhabi. A fun and healthy way to tour the Corniche is to hire a bicycle or just go for run.
Last but not least Don’t forget to Sleep well
Staying fit while travelling is important but another factor which is just as important as eating healthy and following your fitness routine is sleep, and yes it is one thing which is often overlooked. Besides a good night sleep can boost your mood and improve your energy to prepare for your travel adventures. The beds at Sofitel are really comfortable and cozy, they are specially designed with higher concentration of springs placed at common points of pressure, like your shoulders, neck, and back. the bed also offers impeccable support, gently absorbing your movement throughout the night.Apart from their so/bed experience, another thing I was impressed with was their impeccable, meticulously decorated and spacious classy rooms. The rooms and the suites at Sofitel Abudhabi are designed with authentic French “art de recevoir” combined with Arabic hospitality. I stayed in their prestige suite with stunning views of the Arabian Gulf. My suite had a separate living room with sofa and LCD TV, a master bedroom with LCD TV and luxurious king bed, a huge walk-in bathroom with bath tub, rain shower and separate toilets, Nespresso machine, and came with a complimentary breakfast at the Club Millesime with private butler service.My stay at Sofitel was magnifique and was filled with healthy activities, starting with a morning workout and ending in an evening swim, with yummy healthy treats and an exhilarating spa experience along the way. This 5-star hotel has everything you need whether your plans are for discovering a new country, a weekend stay-cation or travelling for business.
