When I think of paradise, I dream of palm trees lining white sandy beaches that meet the ocean’s crystal clear blue waters into an endless horizon of moody blue skies. During my recent trip to Mauritius I found myself in my paradise as I stepped into Shangri-La, which truly lives up to its namesake as a mystical location. I couldn’t believe that I had finally found my dream beach location and that it was all real!
Honestly, I was in awe of everything, from the moment I got down from the car until I checked out of the Shangri-la resort; the warm welcome, the beautiful property, the breathtaking landscapes, the hospitality, the crystal clear private beaches, the infinity pool, the tropical fruit beach bars everything I could imagine about perfect tropical gateway was all there in reality. There are some hotels in the world where you can consider the hotel to be destination in itself, Shangri-La Le Touessrok is definitely one of those hotels. If you are someone who prefer relaxing and tranquility in luxury and comfort, Shangri-La Mauritius is an ultimate destination with a perfect setting for an exotic island retreat. For the adventure and active traveler, the resort also provide an array of activities from thrilling water sports to other adventurous island activities which can be booked with the friendly guest services. Also it is an ultimate option for love birds and honeymooners with its fabulously romantic backdrop.
Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok Resort & Spa, Mauritius, is for sure one of the most famous, most glamourous and most Instagrammable hotels in Mauritius.
location: Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok Resort & Spa, Mauritius, is located on the east coast of Mauritius about 45 km from the Mauritius international airport which takes around 45 minutes to one hour to reach the resort by car. Shangri-La hotel also provide private transportation via helicopter, luxury rental car, hotel taxi or coach.
Arrival: Upon arrival we were greeted by a welcome dance by local dancers and tropical drinks were served in wooden glasses decorated with frangipani flower. They also take our personal picture which they send back by email as souvenirs.
Room: My room was located in frangipani wing of the hotel and was designed in gorgeous contemporary wood with an indigenous island touch with uninterrupted postcard perfect view of sparkling turquoise Indian ocean through large bay windows. I also had a private terrace overlooking the ocean and direct access to the beach. The room came with a complimentary bottle of champagne on arrival and daily fresh fruit platter, along with several mini-bar items.Luxury bathroom with separate shower, deep soaking tub and designer amenities.
The best part of the resort was there are two paradisaical islands located just off the resort’s shore. Ilot Mangénie is private and open exclusively to Shangri-La’s guests and features a relaxing private beach with your own butler, and Ile aux Cerfs island, which holds a spectacular 18-hole championship golf course that was designed by the famous pro-golfer Bernhard Langer. A shuttle boats run every half an hour throughout the day to both the island and it’s free of charge. We took the boat over to the Ile aux cerf island for half a day which ended up probably being my favourite part of the trip.
Fecilities: The resort features 5 restaurants that serve the finest international and Asian cuisine. From the authentic Indian flavors to the traditional fresh ingredients of Japan, there is something to please every taste and occasion at the resort’s numerous dining venues. The day we arrived they also launched one of the most unique restaurants in the world , “The test Kitchen” a unique culinary journey curated by award-winning Chef, Luke Dale-Roberts, a name synonymous with the finest, most creative and innovative food in Africa.
