Last weekend I had an opportunity to discover the newly opened WATERLEMON restaurant located in picture perfect Al Bateen waterfront Abu Dhabi. Read on to know more on my dining experience!
WATERLEMON– Not to be confused with a watermelon, is a new casual dining restaurant with Lebanese roots that offers flavorful dishes with fresh ingredients. The colourful menu features plenty of options that caters to a varied palate and presents itself as a well rounded all day dining experience which complements well with their extremely attentive and efficient staff.
Location: Waterlemon is located in a beautiful corner of the Al Bateen Marina area, with a fantastic air-cooled terrace which gives you a great view of the water and hundreds of docked boats. Finding the place is simple enough through google maps, and parking is available right next to the restaurant.
Ambiance: The interior is modern with nice earthy and green tones combined with a well lit but relaxed ambiance. The restaurant has its own “create your own salad” bar, and an open concept kitchen with a full coffee brewing counter (they brew an amazing latte and cappuccino) and pizza oven. They also have big outdoor shaded terrace overlooking the marina promenade.
On arrival i was greeted with their specialty cocktails: A raspberry caipirinha and frozen blue sky (frozen coconut drink that tastes like pinac0lada). The cocktail looked fantastic and the blue sky tasted so good I felt that I was drinking a cloud with its soft, creamy, yet light texture.

Appetizers: For the appetizers I tried their dynamite shrimp (served with peanut butter) Black nachos (black tortilla chips served with guacamole and sour cream) which was my absolute favourite, Quinoa salad (quinoa cooked in green tea, pine nuts and caramelised pumpkin seed served with lemon dressing), stuffed Piquillos peppers and famous Waterlemon salad. The appetizers came in good sized portions and had excellent presentation. The nachos were tasty, dynamite shrimps were on point and the salads were super fresh. I also tried the buffalo wings which weren’t as good quite as I expected.
Mains: The highlight was their vegetable goat cheese pizza which came in a super thin black crust made from a special flour mixture sourced from natural roasted vegetables (without using black ink) and it was super yummy and healthy (I highly recommend it).
Although the black pizza was the highlight, my personal favourite was their amazing Waterlemon seafood casserole that had a great mixture of many types of seafood like scallops, lobster, squid, and mussels cooked in a tasty and creamy sauce, and served with a side of saffron wild rice and steamed veggies. I also tried the black angus steak, a ribeye which was flavourful and cooked just right, which was served with a side of fries and grilled pumpkin.
Dessert: For dessert I ordered the crowd pleasing Chocolate fondant and the Kitkat brownie. The chocolate fondant was creatively prepared into a semi-spherical ball of ice cream which was then artfully melted with an artful pour of hot chocolate sauce. The kitkat brownie was a huge mountain of sweetness that you can only indulge in on a lazy Friday.
Overall I had an amazing time indulging in to some fine dishes and I will definitely be coming back for yummy black pizza , seafood casserole and the beautiful views.
