This is a long overdue post of last day of my southern France and French riviera trip. I visited Monaco while I was in Nice France and yes It might sound crazy but literally you can cover the whole Monaco in one day. Monaco is really very small ( second smallest country in the world) The total area is just over 2 square kilometers, and it’s really easy to explore the Monaco by foot without any map.
So where is Monaco? In case you dint know, monaco is micro city – state and principality located in the French Riviera, only 20 Km from Nice France and 10 km from the Italian border. Home to the most famous casino Monte Carlo and a place loved by the rich , famous and powerful.
How to get there? From Nice it’s just 20 km , around half an hour scenic drive away. You can also use public transport as it’s pretty easy to get bus and train from Nice airport. Even though Monaco is very small but it’s really beautiful and there’s a lot to do.
Here is the list of the best of Monaco you can experience in your next trip.
Casino Monte de Carlo: The most iconic sight of Monaco is the world famous Monte Carlo. The casino is an entertainment complex and the best part is there is no dress code and it’s fee to go Inside. The casino is really breathtaking, bit smaller than I expected but still it’s very glamorous and luxurious, unfortunately no cameras are allowed inside. If you fancy you can try your luck at Black Jack or roulette. The area around Monte Carlo is really beautiful and safe, you can wander around without worrying about anything.
Jardin Exotique de Monaco: one of the best things to do in Monaco is to soak in the beauty and serenity of exotic garden. The garden is located in the center of the city and The view from this park is breathtaking (probably one of the best views of Monaco yo can see from the Garden)
Observatory cave located At the bottom of exotic garden is breathtaking and beautiful limestone sculptures. The cavity goes almost so far as the sea level. A lot has been said about beautiful views of Monaco from the above but this one is really unexpected and even more exotic. Who thought in the heart of Monaco lies a beautiful cave which looks like out of this world.
Caffe de Paris is the most mythical brasserie of Monaco, located right next to Monte Carlo on the place du casino. A perfect place to sip your coffee while people watching and exotic car watching ( If car watching is a thing lol ) in short perfect place to checkout the constant parade of luxury. Also the caffe is very Instagramable.
If you are someone who’s in to museum make a stop at oceanographic museum which is famous museum of marine sciences with more than 6000 specimens in a faithfully reconstructed natural habitat.
Monte Carlo Harbour is another famous spot for a stroll which features exciting and emotive landscape. The harbor is loaded with impressive yachts and fascinating people. Next to the Monte Carlo country club, you will find the Monaco yacht club, where you can enjoy lunch with beautiful view overlooking the harbour.
Monaco Grand Prix: If you happened to be in Monaco during Grand Prix Month, I highly recommend to experience the celebrity studded Grand Prix. Don’t worry if you are not in Monte Carlo during the Grand Prix, you can still entertain yourself by Ferrari’s, Lamborghini, Maseratis and Rolls Royce parked outside the famous hotel de Paris.
Last but not least shop till you drop , literally Monaco is full of high end stores and branded shops specially around the circle d’or and in Metropole shopping center. A perfect paradise for shopaholics.
